Checking of licences is about to got digital – Changes to UK Driving Licences

It was recently announced by the government that with effect from the 8th June 2015, the driving licence counterpart will be abolished. This means that new licences will not be issued with a counterpart and all existing counterparts are to be destroyed after this date.

What does this mean for your business?

As part of your duties concerning motor insurance you will still be required to check endorsements etc. for new drivers. In order to do this the government are setting up a website where you can check for endorsements, penalties and the vehicles categories available to drive. This is scheduled to be in place before the counterpart is abolished in June.
